LAST NIGHT IN SOHO
Poster art and DVD case concepts for Edgar Wright's psychological horror film Last Night in Soho (2021).
This project was a part of my Graphic Design III coursework. Inspired by classic horror posters from the 60s and beyond, such as The Curse of the Werewolf, Black Sunday, and The Shining; and Illustrated in Photoshop.
A murder in the past. A mystery in the future.
I wanted the color scheme of the poster to capture the bustling energy of the 1960s London nightlife. The knife across the cheek reflects scenery of key importance in the film while alluding to the dark twist the storyline takes. Ellie's creative muse, Sandie, is shown within her eye, representing their obsessive, almost hypnotic, connection.
The DVD case design is an addition I made to the original poster concept. Continuing with the use of neon colors, I blended stills from the film together to create a back cover. I created a dripping effect on the spine of the case to give it a unique look and carry the film's theme of the past oozing into the present.
